Shelter and Stock is a household preparedness publication based in Harris County, Texas. This policy explains the personal information handled through shelterandstock.com. Questions and privacy requests can be sent through the contact form.
Information you provide
The contact form asks for your name, email address, topic and message. It also asks you to confirm that you are at least 13. Do not send medical records, financial account information, government identification numbers, passwords or details that could create a safety risk.
If a directory or newsletter is added later, this policy will be updated before those features collect information.
Information handled automatically
The hosting provider may process standard technical information needed to deliver and protect the site, such as an IP address, browser type, requested page, date and time, and security logs. Your theme and cookie choices are stored in your browser under `shelter-stock-theme` and `shelter-stock-cookie-consent`.
Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity load only after you choose to accept analytics. Advertising storage and personalization remain disabled. If analytics identifiers have not been configured, those services do not load even after consent.
How information is used
- To deliver, protect and maintain the site.
- To answer contact messages and privacy requests.
- To understand site use after consent and improve accessibility and navigation.
- To prevent spam, misuse and security incidents.
- To meet legal obligations and enforce the terms of use.
Shelter and Stock does not sell personal information. It does not use personal information for targeted advertising or automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
Service providers and transfers
Service providers support site delivery and process contact-form submissions. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity may process analytics data only after consent. These providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate, subject to their own terms and safeguards.
Affiliate links, when present, lead to another company's website. That company handles information under its own privacy policy after you leave Shelter and Stock.
Retention and security
Contact messages are kept only as long as reasonably needed to answer the message, maintain necessary records, resolve disputes or meet legal obligations. Consent and theme preferences remain in your browser until you change them or clear site data. Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.
Your choices and rights
You may ask to access, correct or delete personal information associated with a contact message. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to receive a portable copy, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, appeal a decision, or complain to a privacy authority. Send a request through the contact form and choose Privacy request. Identity may need to be verified before a request is completed.
Texas residents may have rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act. Residents of the European Economic Area or United Kingdom may have rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR. Shelter and Stock responds under the law that applies to the request and does not discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right.
Analytics consent can be withdrawn at any time through Cookie settings in the footer. A Global Privacy Control signal is treated as a decline of analytics.
Children
Shelter and Stock is a general-audience publication and is not directed to children under 13. The contact form is for people age 13 and older. If Shelter and Stock learns that personal information from a child under 13 was submitted without appropriate parental consent, it will be deleted. A parent or guardian can use the contact form to request deletion.
Changes and contact
This policy will be updated when the site's actual data practices change, and the date above will change with it. Privacy questions and requests can be sent through the contact form. The Spanish version is at Política de privacidad. If the versions differ, the English version controls.
